John Marino (a guy I’m glad to call a friend of mine!) just finished a big personal project of his. We use Google quite a bit to search for product comparison, but sometimes it’s hard to find a simple 1-to-1 feature comparison between two competing products. A solution for the problem:
Virsis. You sign in using Facebook Connect. Then you search for existing fights, or create a new one of your own. A fight is a comparison between two products/ideas/people/whatever you like; you could compare King Kong with Objectivism if you really wanted to. Bookshelves vs. Rabid Raccoons. Buddha vs. David Ramsey. You get the idea.
Then you list features of each fighter, and vote on individual features. The fighter with the most tallied votes is the “winner”. Of course, it doesn’t actually mean anything if one item is winning over another. It doesn’t even mean that item is better than its competition. You win because you get a crowd-sourced feature comparison, if you want to understand one thing versus another.
And I’m dying to know if Abraham Lincoln beats Lincoln Logs.
